John Clendon holds a diplomas in Agriculture and in Valuation and Farm Management, from Lincoln University in New Zealand. From 1980 to 1998 John Clendon was employed by Unilever Plantations and Plant Science Group of the UK, holding various management positions in the Asia-Pacific region, including that of Managing Director of the Univanich joint venture in Thailand from 1991 to 1996. Prior to re-joining Univanich in October 1998, Mr Clendon was Director of Unilever's oil palm operations in East Asia, Chairman and Managing Director of Unipamol Malaysia Sdn Bhd. and director of Unifield PLC in the UK.

Univanich Palm Oil Public Company Limited is a Thailand-based manufacturer and distributor of crude palm oil. The Company operates oil palm plantations in Krabi and Suratthani provinces. The Company also operates oil crushing mills and palm kernel crushing plants in Krabi province. Its products include crude palm oil, crude palm kernel oil, palm kernel cake, oil palm seeds and seedlings. The Company's products are used in manufacturing of cooking oil, margarine, shortenings, soap, shampoo, cosmetics and others. The Company is also involved in renewable electricity generation for internal uses, oil palm research, and deep-sea port operation with the completed exporting facilities for delivering products to Asian and European markets. The Company's subsidiary includes Univanich Agribusiness Corporation, operating palm oil crushing mills in the Philippines.
