Mauro Roberts

Mauro Roberts has a strong background in information technology, with experience in various roles. Mauro started their career as an IT Specialist at BHP in 1999 and later became a Principal Customer Engineer at Business Connexion. In this role, they oversaw support operations for Microsoft products and Hewlett-Packard hardware and played a key role in designing and implementing the MS Exchange infrastructure. Mauro then joined SGS as a Senior System Engineer before moving on to Vodacom Mozambique as an IT & Systems Manager. In this position, they provided end-to-end IT support and ensured operational efficiency and profitability. Currently, Mauro is the Head of Information Technology at Universal Leaf Tobacco Company, where they direct the delivery of global IT resources and services and coordinates the implementation of IT services across locations. Mauro has introduced an ITIL service desk for Africa and South America, improving user satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Mauro Roberts has a diverse education history, with a focus on information technology and business management. In 1993-1996, they attended St Martin's High School in South Africa and received their Matric certificate. In 1999, they enrolled at Damelin and obtained a Diploma of Education in Information Technology. During the same year, they also earned another diploma in Computer Software Engineering and Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications from Damelin. In 2008, Mauro completed the Foundation Management Programme at GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science). In 2014, they attended GIBS Business School again, this time for a course called "Managing Managers for Results." Most recently, in 2021-2022, Mauro pursued a Master of Technology degree in Information Technology at the University of Cumbria.

Additionally, Mauro has obtained several certifications in various IT fields. These certifications include Self Leadership from People Acuity, CompTIA Network+ from Damelin, ITIL Foundation Level from Foster-Melliar, and various certifications from HP and Microsoft, such as Accredited Platform Specialist - Servers, Certified HP Administrator (ASA), Microsoft Azure Architect Design, and Microsoft Azure Architect Technologies. Mauro has also completed certifications in Project Management from Columbanus Professional Training and VM-Ware - ESX Professional from Torque IT.
