Miguel Barrales

Miguel Barrales currently serves as President of Universal North America, a position held since September 2011. Prior to this role, Miguel was the Executive Vice President of Universal Insurance Company of North America for a brief period in mid-2011. Miguel's extensive experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors includes serving as Chief Executive Officer at Flagstone Underwriters Latin America Ltd. A.I., overseeing operations in Puerto Rico and managing reinsurance business in Latin America and the Caribbean from February 2008 to June 2011. Between February 1995 and January 2008, Miguel held the role of Vice President at Swiss Re in Armonk, NY, where responsibilities included managing the reinsurance business in the Spanish Caribbean and supporting multinational companies operating in Latin America. Miguel Barrales earned a BA in Business Administration from Tecnológico de Monterrey, completing the degree between 1991 and 1995.
