Daniel Castillo Hidalgo

Daniel Castillo Hidalgo currently serves as a Titular Professor and Head of the Department of Historical Sciences at Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where Daniel has been employed since May 2019. In addition, Daniel holds the position of Secretary for the Department and directs the Diploma in Latin American Studies. Daniel is a member of the elected Council of the Asociación Española de Historia Económica since November 2021 and serves as Secretary for the Cátedra Marítimo-Portuaria (PORMAR) since September 2020. Daniel's previous roles include participation in international research networks and several visiting scholar positions across multiple universities. Daniel earned a Ph.D. in Economic History from Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where undergraduate studies in History were also completed.
