Juan Antonio Vázquez

He is Professor of Applied Economics and author of numerous works and academic publications, collected in books and specialized magazines, on economic issues and university management and policies. He has also developed extensive outreach work in national and international media. Throughout his academic career, he has held important responsibilities: Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of Oviedo, Vice-rector of the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP), Rector of the University of Oviedo for two consecutive terms, president of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE) between 2003 and 2007 and president of the Advisory Council of the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA). He has been part of various delegations at conferences of ministers and high-level educational meetings in Europe and Latin America, held the vice presidency of Universia Spain and chaired the Advisory Council for Economic Affairs of the Presidency of the Principality of Asturias. He has several honorary doctorates and university awards; she has been a member of the board of trustees and of the juries of the Princess of Asturias Awards; and he is a member of the Advisory Council of the Madrid I+D Foundation and corresponding Academician of the Royal Academy of Moral and Political Sciences.
