Mauro Gilfournier

Mauro Gilfournier is a distinguished architect and academic with extensive experience in both practice and education. As the Founder and Director of Arquitecturas Afectivas since January 2020, Mauro promotes the concept of architecture as an emotive medium. Concurrently serving as an Associate Professor of Architectural Projects at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Mauro previously held various academic positions, including International Cátedra Guest Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey and Director of the TFM Master in Urbanism and Cities at Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. A co-founder of [VIC] Vivero de Iniciativas Ciudadanas, Mauro has been committed to empowering urbanism and citizenship initiatives since 2010. Past roles also include Co-Director at Estudio SIC, participation in urban transformation projects like Mares de Madrid, and research focused on contemporary architectural criticism that culminated in a Ph.D. at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Mauro's academic journey began with a Licenciatura in Architecture from the same institution.
