Marie-Josée Hébert

Marie-Josée Hébert is a holder with a diploma of specialized studies in nephrology from the University of Montreal and postdoctoral training from the Brigham and Women's Hospital, affiliated with Harvard University, Marie-Josée Hébert is a professor at the Faculty of Medicine, nephrologist- transplant researcher, and holder of the Shire Chair in Renal Nephrology, Transplantation, and Regeneration. She is also co-director of the Donation and Transplantation Research Program of Canada. As a researcher, she has founded and led large interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research groups. His work has notably made it possible to discover new mechanisms at work in the rejection of transplanted organs. Dr. _ Hébert won the Dr. John B. Dossetor Award and the Kidney Foundation of Canada Medal for Research Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contribution to kidney disease research. In 2017, she was named Scientist of the Year by La Presse newspaper.

Vice-rector for research, discovery, creation, and innovation at the Université de Montréal since 2015, she has played a central role in setting up major interdisciplinary research and knowledge mobilization initiatives. including IVADO, the Institute for Data Valorization, MILA, the Quebec Institute of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Health Consortium, and the Montreal Declaration for Responsible Development of Artificial Intelligence.
