Elizabeth Hechavarria

Elizabeth Hechavarria, MD, currently serves as Oberärztin at University Children's Hospital Basel since May 2023, and at Klinik Arlesheim AG since January 2022, focusing on pediatric gastroenterology. Previously, Elizabeth held the position of Oberärztin at Kantonspital Aarau and worked at Galapagos as Senior Director and Translational Medicine Leader from April 2018 to December 2021. Prior experience includes roles at Roche as an Expert Scientist and Clinical Development Plans strategist, and at Gilead Sciences as Associate Director of Clinical Research. Elizabeth has also contributed significantly to academic medicine as Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF and established the Eosinophilic Gastrointestinal Disorders Program. Educational credentials include an MD from Joan & Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University, a certificate from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and a BA in Biochemistry from Wellesley College.
