Bill Mundt

Bill Mundt is the current Deputy Chief Information Officer at University Health System. Bill has over 20 years of experience in IT, including 7 years as an IT Infrastructure Manager. In this role, they were responsible for developing and executing the infrastructure vision and strategy for CHRISTUS Health. This included overseeing the operations and delivery of information systems and processes related to Infrastructure Services, such as VMWare, XenServer, Windows and Linux Servers, Oracle and MS SQL databases. Mundt was also responsible for managing budgets and contracts, and delivered high quality, cost effective solutions to all levels of users while supporting the business goals and objectives for the IM Department and the CHRISTUS organization as a whole. Bill led a staff of 15 Associates in architecture, operational support, education, and training, Tier 3 Incident Management, and participated in Problem, Capacity, Availability, and IT Service Continuity Management for all system hosts, operating systems, database services including medical imaging and HIS systems, and processing virtualization practice.

Prior to their role at CHRISTUS Health, Mundt served for 20 years in the US AIR FORCE. Bill began their career in 1987 as an Air Force Officer before transitioning to the role of Senior IT Systems Director in 2001. In this role, they were responsible for leading a team of programmers in the development of real-time embedded software used in aircraft avionics systems. Bill also managed the day-to-day operations of the software development lab, oversaw software quality assurance activities, and coordinated software releases with other engineering disciplines. Mundt was instrumental in the development of new software processes and standards that improved the efficiency and quality of the software development cycle. Bill retired from the Air Force in 2007 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Bill Mundt has a Master of Science in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from University of Phoenix, a Master of Business Administration in Business Administration, Management and Operations from University of Phoenix, a CISSP Advance Course in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from Villanova University, a BS in Computer Information Systems in IT, Business Management from Wayland Baptist University, and an AS in Computer Info. Systems in CIS and Logistics Management from Community College of the Air Force.
