Magdalena Barrera

Magdalena Barrera serves as the President of the San Antonio-Mexico Friendship Council since January 2020, overseeing a diverse 45-member Board of Directors to promote organizational goals involving civic, governmental, and educational leaders from the United States and Mexico. Concurrently, Magdalena has been the Assistant Director of Outreach & Business Development at University Health since October 2015. Previously, Magdalena held the position of Executive Director at the Mexican American Hispanic Physicians Association (MAHPA) from August 2010 to October 2015, managing comprehensive administrative functions aimed at supporting underprivileged students in pursuing advanced health-care degrees. Additional experience includes roles at the Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, The Broadcast Image Group, Bromley Communications, and H.E. Butt Grocery, showcasing a strong background in organizational leadership and community engagement. Magdalena is an alumnus of UCLA.
