Simon Janzen is currently a Doctoral Student at the University Clinic Bonn since October 2021, focusing on the evaluation of an eLearning project related to smartphone-based fundus imaging for diabetic retinopathy. Prior to this role, Simon served as a Student Research Assistant in the Department of Ophthalmology, where work involved ophthalmological epidemiology in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and the development of e-learning training for smartphone-based funduscopy in India, Nigeria, and Ghana. Additionally, in September 2022, Simon conducted research at the Sankara Eye Foundation in India regarding eLearning for training medical assistants in smartphone-based funduscopy. Simon's earlier experiences include a vacation job at Schütz GmbH & Co. KGaA, a student assistant role in the Department of Addiction at Landeskrankenhaus (AöR), and a practical nursing internship in the Department of Gastroenterology at Bundeswehrzentralkrankenhaus. Simon is pursuing a degree at the University of Bonn, expected to complete in October 2025, following education at KSG Andernach from 2010 to 2019.
