Joseph Kanter, MD, MPH, currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials since April 2024. In addition to this leadership role, Joseph has been a Clinical Assistant Professor at LSU Health Sciences Center and Tulane University School of Medicine since 2013 and 2017, respectively. Joseph's experience includes serving as the State Health Officer for the Louisiana Department of Health from July 2018 to February 2024 and holding various positions within the City of New Orleans' health department from 2014 to 2018. Joseph holds a Doctor of Medicine from Tulane University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, along with residency training in Emergency Medicine at LSU Health Sciences Center.
