John Mooney

John Mooney is a seasoned public health professional with extensive experience spanning over two decades. Currently serving as a Public Health Consultant with Public Health Scotland since July 2024, John is involved with the MAT Standards Implementation Support Team. Concurrently, John holds the position of Honorary Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the University of Aberdeen and functions as a Consultant in Public Health for NHS Grampian. Previous roles include locum consultant at NHS Highland, senior lecturer at the University of Sunderland, and a research associate and public health specialist at the University of Sheffield. John's early career featured significant research related to respiratory infectious diseases while serving as a Public Health Scientist at Health Protection Scotland, along with health inequalities project coordination at Lothian Health Board.
