Brenda Hemmelgarn

Brenda Hemmelgarn currently serves as the Dean and Vice-Provost of the College of Health Sciences at the University of Alberta since January 2020, while also holding the title of Dean at the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry during the same period. Prior to this, Brenda Hemmelgarn was the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors at Alberta Health Services from November 2015 to January 2021. Brenda Hemmelgarn's academic career includes serving as a Professor and Head of the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary from July 2003 to January 2020. Educationally, Brenda Hemmelgarn holds a PhD in Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McGill University, an MD from McMaster University, and FRCPC certifications in Internal Medicine and Nephrology from the University of Calgary.
