Heather Newton

Heather Newton is a seasoned communications and marketing professional with extensive experience in higher education institutions, notably at the University of Alberta. Currently serving as Senior Partner for Communications & Marketing since February 2024, Heather previously held various leadership roles, including Executive Director for Marketing & Communications during a critical transformation period from August 2020 to July 2022. With a history of implementing strategic marketing initiatives, Heather successfully increased enrolment, optimized branding efforts, and managed significant budgets across multiple roles, including positions at Athabasca University and the Government of Alberta. Heather holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Alberta, a Public Relations Diploma from MacEwan University, and a CAAP designation from the Institute of Communication Agencies.
