Ties Gijzel

Ties Gijzel is an investigative journalist currently working at Follow the Money since April 2022 and serves as a teacher at the Universiteit van Amsterdam, where Ties teaches the Honours module in Community Journalism. Previous experience includes roles as Partnership Developer at Argos, Grantee of the Solutions Visual Journalism Initiative at the World Press Photo Foundation, and Ambassador in Engaged Journalism at the European Journalism Centre. Ties founded Are We Europe, a pan-European media organization, and co-founded Awe Studio to create engaging narratives for brands. Ties’ early career included internships at NRC Media, NOS, and the New Zealand Parliament. Ties holds a Master's in Economic Policy from Utrecht University, a Bachelor's in Arts from Amsterdam University College, and completed the Entrepreneurial Journalism Program at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
