Astrid Anna BEHRENS has extensive experience in academic administration and project management, currently serving as the Head of the International Office at the University of Applied Arts Vienna since March 2013, while also focusing on culture management and quality assurance since May 2007. Prior roles include project assistant positions at Elias & Partner KEG and Marketing AG, and significant involvement in the IT&C department at Euromarketing AG, where Astrid was responsible for multimedia project management. Additionally, Astrid has experience as a scientific assistant and project manager at various institutions, including the University of Vienna and EU funding programs. Education was pursued at the University of Vienna, culminating in a degree in sociology, public relations, theater studies, and women's research, with further education at the Vienna University of Economics and Business.

The University of Applied Arts Vienna is home to more than 1,800 students, many of whom come from other countries both in and outside Europe. The range of courses, which are on offer is unusually diverse and includes architecture, fine arts (painting, graphics, sculpture, photography, ceramics), stage design, design (fashion, graphic design, graphics and advertising, landscape design), industrial design, media design (transmedia arts, digital art), conservation and restoration, pedagogic studies for artistic teaching disciplines, textile design and handicrafts. It is precisely the diversity of these artistic disciplines, which is supplemented by a large number of scientific subjects, that contributes to the special atmosphere that prevails at the "Angewandte".
