Dr Gordon Bates

Dr. Gordon Bates is an accomplished medical professional with extensive experience in child psychiatry and medical humanities. Currently serving as Historian in Residence at The Royal College of Psychiatrists and Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at the University of Birmingham since December 2023, Dr. Bates has held various prestigious positions, including Consultant Child Psychiatrist at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board and Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Coventry and Warwickshire Partnership NHS Trust, among others. Dr. Bates' educational background includes a PhD and MA in Medical Humanities from Birkbeck, University of London, as well as a Master of Medical Sciences in Psychiatry and an MB ChB in Medicine from the University of Birmingham.
