Dr. Jessica Shaw currently serves as an Associate Professor and PhD/MSW Thesis Program Director at the University of Calgary, specializing in critical social work, community-based research, and feminist theory. Research projects include Indigenous-led mental health, Medical Assistance in Dying, end-of-life care in Canadian prisons, and self-managed abortion. Dr. Shaw is also the President of Women Help Women International Foundation, an organization advocating for abortion access, and Founder of the Full Spectrum Doula Collective, which supports doulas and reproductive health activists. Previously held positions include Director of Women Help Women and a member of the Board of Directors for Canadians for Choice. Dr. Shaw's academic credentials include a PhD in Social Work from the University of Calgary and a Master's in Social Work with a specialization in Women's Studies from Lakehead University.
