Jen Hopper

Jen Hopper is an experienced professional with a strong background in outdoor education and soil science. Currently serving as the Assistant Director of Recreation for the Outdoor Education Program at the University of California, Riverside since January 2000, Jen oversees various aspects of the program, including leadership development and special events, while supervising a team of approximately 35 part-time staff. Prior to this role, Jen worked as a part-time instructor and guide for Sierra Mountaineering International from 2002 to 2011, focusing on southern California and the Sierra Nevada Range. Additionally, Jen has a solid foundation in scientific research as a Laboratory Technician and Researcher at the USDA George E Brown Salinity Laboratory from 1997 to 2000, where investigations on soil selenium were conducted resulting in published findings and recommendations for farmers. Jen holds a Master of Science degree in Soil Science from the University of California, Riverside.
