Bruce Ovbiagele

Bruce Ovbiagele, MD, MSc, MAS, MBA, MLS, is a prominent neurologist serving as the Board Stroke Support Organization Representative for the World Stroke Organization and as the Founder and President of the Society for Equity Neuroscience. Since January 2023, Bruce has held the role of Editor in Chief at the Journal of the American Heart Association, overseeing the publication of significant research in cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention/treatment. At the University of California, San Francisco, Bruce is a Professor of Neurology and Associate Dean while also serving as Chief of Staff at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System. Bruce's previous roles include Director on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Neurology and various academic positions at the Medical University of South Carolina. Bruce's extensive educational background includes multiple graduate degrees from esteemed institutions, including a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Lagos and a Master of Legal Studies from Washington University in St. Louis.
