Daniel Ivashin

Daniel Ivashin currently serves as a Staff Research Associate III at the University of California, San Francisco, focusing on translational research that utilizes mNGS and machine-learning tools to explore host-pathogen interactions under the guidance of Dr. Chaz Langelier. Prior to this role, Daniel was an Associate Scientist II at GRAIL, leading efforts to enhance the diagnostic sensitivity of multi-cancer early detection and advocating for LGBTQ+ inclusion as the PRIDE Employee Resource Group Lead. Daniel’s experience includes supporting research and development as an Associate Scientist, performing various NGS workflows, and conducting undergraduate research at the University of California, Davis, where foundational projects included investigating non-genetic inheritance in Giardia lamblia and studying meiotic recombination in transgenic mice. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Medical Microbiology from the University of California, Davis.
