Hugh Lawrence

Hugh Lawrence is a dedicated undergraduate student at Tufts University, pursuing a degree from 2022 to 2026. Currently serving as a Senior Research Training Program Undergraduate Research Intern at the University of California, San Francisco, research focuses on bacteriophage-bacteria interactions within the gut microbiome. At Tufts University, Lawrence contributes as the Africana Center Lead Peer Leader, overseeing the Peer Leader Program, and as a Mental Health Representative, advocating for mental health support. Additionally, involvement includes research at the Tufts Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and various editorial roles at The Tufts Daily, including Executive Video Editor and Features Editor. Earlier experiences include research on antibiotic resistance in Staphylococcus species and community engagement at the Personal Genetics Education Project, alongside a volunteer role at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center.
