Byron Ong, CFA, serves as the Director of Private Credit and Director of Fixed Income at the University of California Office of the President since July 2008. In these roles, Byron has been instrumental in initiating and recommending investment strategies for a $4 billion investment-grade global corporate bond portfolio and a $1 billion high-yield portfolio, while managing credit coverage for 145 portfolio companies across various sectors, including energy and transportation. Prior to this, Byron held the position of Senior Investment Analyst at Prudential Capital Group from July 2002 to July 2006, where responsibilities included managing the underwriting process for senior, subordinated, and mezzanine debt investments within a $40 billion private fixed income portfolio. Byron's educational background includes an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
