Van Williams

Van Williams is the current Vice President and Chief Information Officer at the University of California-System Administration Central Office. Van has previously held positions at Digital Nest, the University of California Santa Cruz, and NYU Stern School of Business.

Williams began their career at NYU Stern School of Business in 2005 as the Director of Network and Systems Administration. In 2007, they were promoted to Senior Director of Information Technology and then to Chief Technology Officer in 2013. Van served as Interim CIO from 2011 to 2013 before taking on the role of Chief Information Officer at NYU Stern School of Business from 2013 to 2017.

In 2017, Williams left NYU Stern School of Business to become the Vice Chancellor of Strategic Technology Initiatives at the University of California Santa Cruz. Van held this position until 2018 when they were promoted to Vice Chancellor of IT and Cyber Risk Responsible Executive. Van remained in these roles until 2021 when they were appointed to their current position as VP, Chief Information Officer at University of California-System Administration Central Office.

Van Williams has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from New York University - Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Classics and Classical Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics from New York University. Van Williams is also certified by the Scrum Alliance as a Certified ScrumMaster.

Van Williams works with Charles F. Robinson - General Counsel & VP, Legal Affairs, Rachael Nava - EVP & COO, and Brent Colburn - SVP, External Relations & Communications. Van Williams reports to Michael V. Drake, President.
