Al Downie

Al Downie has extensive experience in information technology and digital transformation, currently serving as the Head of Information Technology and Digital Transformation at the University of Cambridge's School of the Biological Sciences since 2002, in addition to leading IT at the Gurdon Institute. Prior to this, Al Downie was the Director at The Company of Biologists from February 2013 to January 2022 and worked as a Computing/Digital Media Specialist at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee from 1996 to 2001. Additionally, Al Downie served as Computing Manager and Deputy Head of Department in the Medical Illustration Department at the University of Glasgow from 1992 to 1996.
