Donald Derrick is a highly accomplished academic and researcher with extensive experience in linguistics and related fields. Currently serving as a Senior Lecturer Above the Bar at the University of Canterbury since 2011, Donald has progressed through various academic ranks and has been involved in significant research projects, including a Marsden Royal Society of New Zealand Grant from 2012-2015 focused on speech production. In addition to academic roles, Donald has occupied postdoctoral positions at Western Sydney University and The University of British Columbia, contributing to impactful research on speech coordination and the human vocal tract. Earlier professional experience includes programming and analysis for major corporations and research coordination for government projects. Donald holds a PhD in Linguistics from The University of British Columbia and advanced degrees in Anthropology from Dalhousie University and Saint Mary's University.
