Laura Johnstone

Laura Johnstone possesses extensive academic and professional experience in law, sociology, and criminal justice. Currently serving as a Teaching Assistant and Assistant Lecturer at the University of Canterbury, Laura has also held various research roles within different departments at the university. In addition to ongoing contributions as a Board Member for JustSpeak - Aotearoa New Zealand, previous positions include a Mental Health and Addictions Advisor at Whakarongorau Aotearoa and a Policy Advisor for the Royal Commission of Inquiry into the Christchurch Mosques attack. Laura's foundational legal expertise was developed through roles at the Earthquake Commission and ACC New Zealand. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws (LLB), a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Human Services/Sociology, a Master of Criminal Justice (MCJ), and pursuit of a PhD in Criminal Justice at the University of Canterbury.
