Fatima Seedat

Head, African Feminist Studies at University of Cape Town

Fatima Seedat is the current Head of African Feminist Studies at the University of Cape Town. Fatima has also held positions at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, McGill University, and Women Living Under Muslim Laws. In addition to their academic work, Seedat has also worked as a consultant for Equitas International Human Rights Education and the Government of South Africa's Department of International Relations and Cooperation.

Seedat's research focuses on gender, Islam, and human rights. Fatima has published numerous articles and book chapters on these topics, and their work has been translated into several languages. Seedat is a passionate advocate for women's rights and gender equality, and they have worked tirelessly to promote these causes both in their native South Africa and around the world.

Fatima Seedat completed their B.A. [Hons] at the University of Toronto before going on to complete their M. Soc. Sc at the University of Cape Town. Fatima then completed their Ph.D. at McGill University.
