Michael Lapena

Michael Lapena has over 20 years of work experience in the field of IT. Michael is currently working as the IT Director at the University of Cebu Medical Center (UCMed), where their responsibilities include managing the IT infrastructure, network systems, and disaster recovery processes. Prior to this, they worked at the University of Cebu - Main/Banilad/LM/METC for almost two decades, starting as a Laboratory Supervisor and later assuming roles as a Network Administrator and System Network Administrator. In their roles at UC, they were responsible for administering and maintaining the systems, implementing network infrastructure, monitoring and backup procedures, and integrating new hardware and software. Before joining UC, they worked as a Junior Engineer at Channel Technologies Inc.

Michael Lapena earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Cebu, where they studied from 1998 to 2001. In addition, they obtained certifications as a Certified Fiber Optic Technician from FOA in 2013, CompTIA A+ from CompTIA in 2005, and CCNA from Cisco in January 2004.
