Carola Gräfin von Schmettow, born in 1964, studied mathematics at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and music at the Robert Schumann University. After her studies, she started at HSBC in the capital markets area and asset management and became a member of the board of the bank in 2004. From 2015 to 2021 she was spokeswoman for the board of HSBC Germany. In addition, she was a member of the Management Board and the Executive Committee of the Association of German Banks, Deputy Chairwoman of the Exchange Council of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and Chairwoman of the Exchange Council of Eurex Deutschland. She held supervisory board mandates at ThyssenKrupp AG, BVV and DBV Winterthur, among others.
