Tuomas Rissanen is a Professor of Cardiology at the University of Eastern Finland since November 2007, also serving as a Docent in Molecular Medicine. Rissanen is the Head of Science at Heart2Save and has held various leadership roles in Siun sote, including Head of the Heart Center and Head of the Conservative Clinical Group. Previous experience includes being Vice Head of the Heart Center and a Cardiologist at the Central Hospital of North Karelia, where responsibilities encompassed percutaneous coronary interventions and cardiac device implantations. Rissanen's medical training includes serving as a Resident in cardiology at Kuopio University Hospital and as a Medical Doctor at North Karelia Central Hospital. Research endeavors during their career include roles as a Senior Researcher at the A. I. Virtanen Institute and extensive work in gene therapy and molecular medicine. Educational qualifications include MD, PhD, and a Docent degree in Medicine and Molecular Medicine from the University of Eastern Finland.
