Derek Eberhart

Derek Eberhart is an accomplished professional in the fields of research and technology commercialization, currently serving as Associate Vice President for Research and Executive Director of UGA Innovation Gateway at the University of Georgia since December 2008. Eberhart has held various leadership roles including Director and Interim Director of Technology Commercialization, and Chief Licensing Officer at the University of Georgia Research Foundation since January 2014. Prior experience includes a significant tenure at Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, where positions ranged from Director of Alliance and Portfolio Management to Scientist in Molecular Genetics. Eberhart began a postdoctoral fellowship at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital from 1996 to 2000, following a Ph.D. in Genetics and Molecular Biology from Emory University and multiple degrees in Poultry Science from The University of Georgia.
