Karen Burg

Karen Burg holds the position of Harbor Lights Endowed Chair and Professor at The University of Georgia, where responsibilities have included serving as the Founding Chief Executive Officer of NextGA and Vice President for Research since 2016. Prior to this role, Karen Burg was a Professor of Chemical Engineering and Vice President for Research at Kansas State University from 2014 to 2016, and held the positions of Interim Vice Provost and Dean of the Graduate School, as well as Interim Vice Provost for Research and Innovation at Clemson University between 2007 and 2014. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioengineering from Clemson University, as well as a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Chemical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
