Christopher Loughrey has a diverse work experience in academia and research. Christopher started their career at the University of Glasgow in 2003 as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Christopher then moved on to becoming a Lecturer at the same university from 2005 to 2010. During this time, they also held the role of Editorial Board Member at the British Journal of Pharmacology from 2016 to 2020. In 2018, they joined Cardiovascular Research as the Executive Deputy Editor. Since 2010, Christopher has been associated with the University of Glasgow, College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, where they have held various positions including Senior Lecturer, Reader, Deputy Head of School of Veterinary Medicine, College International Dean, and currently, they are the Head of School of Biodiversity, One Health and Veterinary Medicine. Additionally, they are also a Professor of Experimental Cardiology at the university since 2019.
Christopher Loughrey has a strong education background. Christopher obtained their Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery (BVMS) degree from the University of Glasgow in the period from 1995 to 2000. Christopher then pursued further studies at the same university, completing their PhD in Cardiac Physiology from 2000 to 2003. Following this, Christopher furthered their education at the University of Glasgow and became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) from 2005 to 2008, specializing in Higher Education Administration. Prior to their university education, Christopher attended Trinity Catholic High School until 1994.
