Sebastian Gerling

Sebastian Gerling is a distinguished academic and professional in the fields of information technology, law, and security. Currently serving as a member of the extended presidency, professor, and Chief Digital Officer at the University of Hamburg since January 2021, Sebastian also holds a position as a board member at CIRCLE Consulting. With prior roles including Head of Scientific Strategy at CISPA – Helmholtz Center for Information Security and significant contributions to the development of scientific strategy and technology transfer, Sebastian has extensive experience in both academic and administrative capacities. Educational qualifications include a Master of Laws in Information Technology and Law, a Dr.-Ing. in IT-Security and Privacy, and multiple degrees in Computer Science, all from Universität des Saarlandes.
