Fred Wergeles

Director, Entrepreneurial Center & Women's Business Center at University of Hartford

Fred Wergeles has a diverse work experience in the field of competitive intelligence and business consulting. Fred currently serves as the Director of the Entrepreneurial Center & Women's Business Center at the University of Hartford, where they provide business advising and training to small business owners. Fred is also an Adjunct Professor at the Barney School of Business, teaching MBA and undergraduate courses in marketing and entrepreneurship.

Fred is the Principal of their own company, Fred Wergeles & Associates LLC, which specializes in competitive intelligence and strategic planning services. Fred has over 100 years of combined industry experience as a consultant in various sectors.

Fred has served as the President of the Connecticut Economic Gardening Group, providing business analysis and support to small businesses for growth. Fred has also held positions as a Board Member for the Competitive Intelligence Division at SLA and as a Connecticut Chapter Chair and Board Member for the Strategic and Competitive Intelligence Professionals (SCIP).

Additionally, Fred has contributed to the business community as an Advisor for the Central Connecticut State University School of Business Advisory and Advancement Council. Fred has also served as the Executive Director of the Simsbury Education Enhancement Foundation.

Before entering the consulting field, Fred worked as a Manager of Competitive Intelligence for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and held a senior position as an Intelligence Officer with the Central Intelligence Agency.

Fred Wergeles holds a Master of Arts degree in the School of Foreign Service from Georgetown University. Fred also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
