James McDonald is an experienced academic professional with a longstanding tenure at the University of Hartford since January 1999, currently serving as Associate Dean of Budget and Finance in the College of Arts and Sciences, where responsibilities include advising on budget preparation and representing the Dean in financial discussions. McDonald has held various roles including Department Chair of Physics, Department Chair of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, as well as Interim Department Chair of Judaic Studies, showcasing expertise in budget management, curriculum development, and long-range planning across multiple departments serving a substantial number of students. Additionally, McDonald has a significant advisory role with the Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity and has a strong research background in experimental low-energy nuclear astrophysics, supported by a solid educational foundation with a BS and PhD in Physics from Clarkson University and the University of Connecticut, respectively.
