Monica Villarreal

Monica Villarreal, M.A., is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in the fields of graphic design, academia, and cultural advocacy. As the founder of Xochipilli Collective since October 2022, Monica focuses on promoting indigenous culture and practices. In the academic realm, Monica has held positions at the University of Houston-Downtown as Coordinator of Web Support and Publications since July 2013, and as an adjunct professor at both the University of Houston-Clear Lake and Lone Star College, teaching courses in graphic design and art appreciation. Additionally, Monica has operated as a graphic designer and photographer through Design by Monica since October 2011, enhancing branding and visual communication for various companies. Notable past roles include founding Creative Women Unite, serving as a task force member for HouArts in Action, and participating as an artist in initiatives like Project Row Houses and Voices Breaking Boundaries. Education includes a Master of Arts in Digital Communication and Media/Multimedia from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a BBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Houston.
