Board Member at University of Houston

Dr. John A. McCall Jr. was appointed to the University of Houston System Board of Regents in 2019 by Governor Greg Abbott and will serve through August 31, 2025. For fiscal year 2022-2023, he will serve as chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, a member of the Academic and Student Success Committee, as well as a member of the Audit and Compliance Committee.

Dr. McCall has previously served as the President of the Student Texas Optometric Association, the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He has received the Texas Young Optometrist of the year Award, Optometrist of the Year Award, and the Distinguished Service Award. The University of Houston College of Optometry honored Dr. McCall in 1998 with the Alumnus of the Year Award and in 1999 with the Bill Pittman Leadership Award. McCall also owns the Treehouse Academy, a state of the art daycare located in Crockett, Texas, which is managed by his daughter Lyndsey Rice. Dr.McCall is a founding member of Vision Source LP, one of the largest Doctor Networks in the world and continues to serve as Sr. VP of Medical Vendor Relations for Vision Source.
