Bassem Andrawes

Bassem Andrawes currently serves as the Director at TRANS-IPIC University Transportation Center since February 2023 and is the Founder and CEO of SMA CORES, a position held since October 2020. In academia, Bassem Andrawes has been a faculty member at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign since October 2006, holding roles as Professor and CEE Excellence Faculty Fellow, Director of the Newmark Structural Engineering Laboratory, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor. Bassem Andrawes earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Structural Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2001 and 2005.
