Jim Rehg is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as the Director of the Health Care Engineering Systems Center and Founder Professor of Computer Science and Industrial and Enterprise Systems Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign since November 2022. As Deputy Director of the NIH BTRC on mHealth for Temporally-Precise Interventions (mDOT), Jim leads projects focused on personalized risk dynamics through uncertainty-aware modeling. Previously, Jim held the position of Principal Amazon Scholar at Amazon Lab126 from May 2018 to April 2022 and spent over two decades at Georgia Institute of Technology, where roles included Professor, Director of the Center for Behavioral Imaging, and Deputy Director of the NIH Center of Excellence in Mobile Sensor Data to Knowledge (MD2K). Jim's early career included management roles at DEC Cambridge Research Lab and Digital Equipment Corporation, leading advancements in computer vision. Educational qualifications include a PhD and a Master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
