Barbara van Dyke-Brown

Barbara Van Dyke-Brown is an experienced professional in legislative advocacy and education, currently serving as the Director of Legislative Internships and Advocacy Programs at the University of Illinois at Springfield since May 2000. Barbara coordinates the Illinois Legislative Staff Intern Program (ILSIP) and organizes conferences focused on lobbying, the legislative process, and the state budget. As an adjunct faculty member, Barbara teaches courses on political action and advocacy, as well as supervising interns through the Legislative Applied Study Term. Previous roles include consultant for Jane Doe Incorporated, where electronic services were provided for the Violence Against Women Network, Public Policy Coordinator for the Illinois Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and Senior Research Associate with the Illinois Citizens Assembly Council on Women. Barbara holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University, among other educational qualifications.
