Michele Gribbins

Director, Center For Online Learning, Research & Service at University of Illinois Springfield

Michele Gribbins has a diverse and extensive work experience. Michele started their career as an Adjunct Business Instructor at Lake Land College in 1996 and later became a Computer Training Specialist at the Center for Business & Industry. In 1999, they joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Research/Teaching Assistant in the Department of Business Administration.

In 2005, Michele joined the University of Illinois Springfield and held various roles within the Center for Online Learning, Research & Service. Michele served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems and later transitioned to become an Online Learning & Faculty Development Specialist. Michele then progressed to the role of Associate Director and Acting Director of the Center. Currently, they are the Director of the Center for Online Learning, Research & Service, where they collaborate with deans, faculty, and staff to enhance the quality of online learning and provide support for faculty innovation using technology.

Throughout their career, Michele has focused on promoting student learning through continuous improvement, offering development opportunities, and utilizing the latest pedagogical research and best practices.

Michele Gribbins has a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University Bloomington, which they obtained from 2015 to 2023. Michele also completed all coursework for a Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program in Management Information Systems at the Gies College of Business - University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1999 to 2011. Additionally, they hold an MBA in Business Administration from Eastern Illinois University, acquired from 1996 to 1999, and a BS in Finance from Illinois State University, received from 1991 to 1995. In terms of certifications, they obtained a Rise Workplace Wellness Retreat certification from the University of Illinois Springfield in September 2023. Michele also holds various certifications, including being a UPCEA Network Leader in 2021-2022 and 2018-2019 from UPCEA, a Peer Reviewer for QM Quality Matters, completing the Peer Reviewer Course and Applying the QM Rubric also from QM Quality Matters, and being a Certified Online Learning Administrator from the Illinois Online Network in 2013.
