Matthew Pepper has extensive experience in medical instrumentation and assistive technology, currently serving as an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent since 1975, with a focus on intelligent powered chairs and user support. Previously, Matthew held a joint appointment as Senior Lecturer in Medical Instrumentation at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, contributing to the undergraduate degree course. As a Consultant Clinical Scientist at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust from 2014 to 2021, Matthew's research centered on powered wheelchairs and robotics. Additionally, as Head of Clinical and Rehabilitation Engineering from 1975 to 2013, Matthew established essential rehabilitation services in posture management and assistive communication for diverse patient needs. Academic qualifications include a PhD in temperature measurement of liquid steel from the University of Kent and a B.Sc. in Applied Physics.
