Richard Reece

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Education and Student Experience at University of Kent

Richard Reece has been a powerful voice in the field of education for over two decades. Richard began their career as a trustee for the Biochemical Society, where they were responsible for developing, presenting, and overseeing governance of the society. In 2009, they became the Chair of the Board of Directors for Portland Press. As Chair of the Board, Richard provided leadership to the Board of Directors to ensure appropriate direction in terms of strategy and policy-making so that PPL was commercially successful, while performing in line with the objectives of The Biochemical Society. In 2013, they also took on the role of Honorary Secretary for the Royal Society of Biology. In this role, they were responsible for developing, presenting, and overseeing governance of the society.

In 2015, Richard was appointed as the Associate Vice President for The University of Manchester. In this role, they were responsible for providing academic leadership across all aspects of teaching and learning, as well as student experience. Richard also had oversight of the university's academic regulations and quality assurance processes. Richard's work at The University of Manchester led to him being recognised as a national leader in higher education, and in 2020 they were appointed as Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Kent. In this role, Richard is responsible for leading the university's educational strategy and ensuring an excellent student experience.
