Richard Puttock has held various roles in the field of data analytics and management throughout their career. Richard started as a Sandwich Student at the Higher Education Funding Council for England in 1992 and then joined the company as a Data Analyst in 1994. Richard later worked as the RAE Information Manager from 1998 to 2001 before becoming a Senior Analyst until 2008. From 2008 to 2018, they served as the Head of Data and Management Information at the same organization. In 2018, they joined the Office for Students as the Head of Data, Foresight and Analysis, and later became the Director of Data, Foresight and Analysis from 2019 to 2023. Currently, they hold the position of Head of Business Intelligence and Data Analytics (BIDA) at the University of Leeds.

Richard Puttock has a strong education history in the field of mathematics. Richard obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the University of Surrey in 1994. Richard then pursued a Master of Science degree in Symbolic Computation from the University of Bath, completing it in 1996. Building on their knowledge and expertise, they went on to earn a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Group Theory from the same university in 2004.
