Associate Professor And Director Of The ZCRI at University of Liverpool

Dr Stephen Finnegan has a diverse work experience focused on sustainability, zero carbon, and climate change. Dr Stephen is currently the Managing Director of Arete Zero Carbon, where they help businesses reach Net Zero Carbon (NZC) goals. Dr Finnegan also worked as an Associate Professor and Director of the Zero Carbon Research Initiative at the University of Liverpool. Dr Stephen has experience in the food industry, serving as the Net Zero Carbon (NZC) Director for KFC UK & Ireland. Dr Finnegan has also held positions as a Non-Executive Director for Zero Carbon Housing at The Regenda Group and as a Net Zero Carbon (NZC) Strategic Advisor for Liverpool City Council. Dr Stephen'sprevious roles include working as a Zero Energy Consultant at EY, a Board Member for Sustainability at RICS, and a Senior Lecturer in Sustainability at Liverpool John Moores University. Dr Finnegan was also a Climate Change and Sustainability Manager at KPMG and a Knowledge Leader for Sustainability at Ricardo plc.

Dr. Stephen Finnegan has a BSc in Environmental Science from Liverpool John Moores University, obtained between 1997 and 2000. Dr Stephen then pursued an MRes in Environmental Engineering at the University of Leeds, completing it in 2001. Following this, Dr. Finnegan earned a PhD in Environmental Engineering from the University of Liverpool between 2001 and 2004.
