Sue Sherburne

Sue Sherburne Ph.D. serves as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Academics and Student Development at the University of Maryland since October 2018, where responsibilities include providing leadership to various academic support units and managing budgets. Prior to this role, Sherburne held positions at the University of Maryland starting in October 2014 and at Penn State University from January 1997 to October 2014, where duties encompassed academic advising for athletes, evaluating life skills programming, and leading the Penn State Lionettes Dance Team to national championships. With a strong educational background including a Ph.D. in Interpersonal Communication from Pennsylvania State University, a Master’s in Health Education, and a Bachelor’s in Sociology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Sherburne has cultivated expertise in student-athlete development and educational programming throughout a distinguished career in athletic administration.
