John Keller has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of neurosurgery. John started their career as a Surgical Intern at Michigan State University Integrated Hospitals in 1989. John then pursued their specialization by becoming a Neurosurgical Resident at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine from 1990 to 1995. After completing their residency, they worked as a Neurosurgeon at their own practice, John F. Keller, MD, PC, from 1995 to 1999. John then joined Great Lakes Neurosurgical Associates as a Neurosurgeon in 1999 and later became the President of the company in 2010. In 2003, they joined Spectrum Health as the Chief of Neurosurgery until 2008. From 2010, they have also held a position as a Clinical Associate Professor at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Since 2013, they have been serving as the Chief of Neurosurgery at the University of Michigan Health-West. Overall, John Keller has an extensive background in neurosurgery with various leadership roles and academic affiliations.

John Keller obtained their Bachelor's degree in Pre-Medicine/Pre-Medical Studies from Michigan State University in 1985. John then went on to attend Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where they earned their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 1989. Additionally, John Keller obtained certification as a Board Certified Neurological Surgeon from the American Association of Neurological Surgeons in 1999.
